It is truly an amazing thing to watch the democratic process play itself out. Who you vote for or who you support is not nearly as important as the actual way the democratic process works.
In the United States of America, people align themselves with others who think similarily so that they can achieve shared goals. That's how political parties are formed. During an election, like the federal election we just had, every party campaigns hard. During such a campaign, each candidate; each political party expresses their philosophy about life, the quality of life they hope to achieve or maintain, and the means by which they will achieve their goals, ideas, and ideals. If a voter likes and identifies with what a certain group is saying, they will vote for that group or candidate.
The beauty of our government is that we can fight hard, campaign hard, fight for what we believe in, but ultimately we will submit to the will of the people. That is what needs to happen right now, especially among evangelical Christians. I hope and pray that we will not be like the "Bush-bashers" who never got behind our current president which hamstringed his effectiveness.
I did not personally vote for the new president-elect, however, I love my country and I want it to succeed. The USA has much to recovery from in this point in time. It is weakened economically and there are numerous mountains to climb. I hope and pray that all of us will support our president. We will agree at times; when we disagree, let us conduct ourselves in a manner worthy of our calling. Let us take the higher road. If we don't like the outcome of this election, ask God what He is calling us to do to make a difference in the future. In the meantime, let us remember that our Father in heaven is totally sovereign and therefore, no political figure or authority or human sovereign rises to power without God's knowledge and consent.
All this to say, don't stand on the sidelines or sit in the stands and spectate. Get involved! Every one of us makes a differance ... and that includes you. Let us pray for our country, pray for our future, and ask God for His divine guidance. Amen and amen.
