A Guarantee

People love guarantees. They love buying things, especially electronic items, which come with a piece of paper that represents a promise. This promise says that if anything goes wrong with the item, it will be repaired for little or no cost or it will be replaced with a brand new one. Companies extend guarantees as a way to win customer loyalty and satisfaction. In the business world, guarantees are not only common, they are expected.

Guarantees are wonderful, but they don’t cover everything. They don’t apply to our relationships with others. When you get married, there is no guarantee that your spouse will be who you want them to be. There’s no guarantee that if you start college you will finish it. There’s no guarantee that you will get that expected promotion or get the credit for that new marketing theme. We are not guaranteed health or long life. We have no guarantee that we will rear respectful and responsible children who will be as devoted to the Lord as we want them to be. Nope, none of these things comes with a promise that everything will always work out as we hope.

There is ONE guarantee in this life. It has nothing to do with electronics. It doesn’t apply to our interpersonal relationships with other people. God extends a special guarantee to every human being on the face of the earth. The Bible tells us that anyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. It says that if you ask Jesus Christ to come into your life/heart you will receive eternal life. It says that he who has the Son of God in His life has authentic life. He, who does not have the Son of God, does not have this kind of life. We can know for sure that we have eternal life by giving ourselves to God through Jesus Christ. Gosh, that sounds like a guarantee to me. Does it to you?

God is more consistent than Sony, Microsoft, and Apple. He is more faithful than Olympus, Canon, and Nikon. He is the only consistent Person in the universe. He guarantees that if we come to Him and ask Him to be our Lord and Savior, He will save us from the penalty of all sin and we are assured that when we die we will live forever with Him in heaven.

This sounds like the best guarantee in the world. Let me ask you, have you taken advantage of this incredible offer from God? I hope you have, but if not, I hope you will do that right now. Just tell God that you know He is the only One worth worshipping. Tell Him that you trust Him and you understand that Jesus’ death on the cross paid for all of your sins. Then, tell Him that you want to live for Him and not for yourself. I guarantee He is waiting for that prayer.
