Our Hope
There are countless verses on hope in the Bible; meditate on the following:
1 Corinthians 13:13 – now faith, hope, love abide
Galatians 5:5 – hope of righteousness
Ephesians 1:18 – the hope of His calling
Colossians 1:23 – the hope of the gospel
Colossians 1:27 – the hope of glory
1 Thessalonians 5:8 – the hope of salvation
Titus 3:7 – hope of eternal life
1 Peter 1:3 – to a living hope
1 Peter 3:15 – hope that is in you
These are only a few of the verses that describe the hope that believers have because of their relationship with Jesus Christ.
God has given us hope in conjunction with faith and love. That’s a cool combination. We enjoy the hope associated with right-living. Jesus’ righteousness has been credited to our spiritual bank accounts.
There is an inherent hope linked to being called by God to become adopted sons and daughters. Hope is a natural by-product of our divine calling to promote and exalt the name of Jesus and to advance His kingdom on earth. The fulfillment of this calling yields a meaningful existence.
The “good news” of the gospel of Jesus offers us eternal hope via salvation. We also have the hope of glory, meaning we will spend eternity in heaven. We have the hope of eternal life. We are assured that earth is not our home and that when we die we will surely pass from this life to the next in the blink of an eye.
We have a living hope; His name is Jesus Christ. His name is above all names and we have been reconciled to God because of Jesus’ death on the cross and His resurrection from the dead. Death has no sting and has no victory. Lastly, we have hope in God alone. He is good, always good, and can never be anything but good. He is the creator of life and He is the only One who is able to save us from our sins.
Do you live with an attitude of hope? If so, great! That means you “get it.” You get the good news of salvation. If you don’t live with an attitude of hope, then, something is not in sync.
If you lack hope, perhaps it is because you do not fully understand your heavenly inheritance. Maybe you don’t comprehend what adoption into God’s family means. You may lack faith. If you lives without hope, it may be because you have been deceived by the evil one.
Perhaps you are stuck in old patterns. Or, possibly, your old ways of thinking, feeling, and acting are more familiar than walking in Godly new ones. Look these over and see if any of them can explain your lack of hope. Then, bring it all to God and ask Him to help you receive all He offers. Ask Him to help you live out what you say you believe.
I’ll be praying for you.
