Don’t Play With Sin
If we play around with sin, one thing is certain; we are going to get hurt. Sin is like a poisonous viper; it’s always deadly. Truly, a little bit of sin, like a little bit of poison, will make you deathly ill or just plain dead. The lesson here is: don’t take any sin lightly no matter how minor it seems. The consequences are too grave; no pun intended.
Romans 6:23 tells us that the wages of sin is death. Is this talking about physical death? No. It is also referring to death in a spiritual sense: death of our fellowship with God, death of our integrity, and death of our personal witness and the power needed to speak it.
Playing with sin is like running the gauntlet; you will never, never, never come out unscathed. Don’t kid yourself.
Are you stuck in a sin pattern? Are you oblivious to the spiritual consequences? Have you practiced or played with a particular sin so much that you can no longer speak with authority into the lives of others? Have you taken a sin lightly and you no longer feel any conviction from the Holy Spirit? Have you realized that your pet sins are not your friends? They are various forms of “poison” concocted by an old serpent named Satan.
Conversely, have you discovered that any amount of sin is too much? Have you made a resolution to not toy or play with your sin patterns? Have you received the benefit and blessings of repentance?
Wake up from your spiritual slumber! Don't fall for the same trick used against Adam and Eve. What is one sin that you take lightly? Are you ready to deal with it? Are you ready to repent from it? I hope so. I am. I already have one in mind. I'll be praying that God will show you which one He wants you to deal with.
