All About Relationships
Have you ever noticed the variety of relationships that describe what we have with God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit?
Jesus is our:
Ø Teacher; we are His disciples
Ø Friend
Ø Master; we are His servants
Ø Shepherd; we are His sheep
Ø Author and Perfector of our Faith
Ø High Priest
Ø Lamb of God who takes away sin
Ø Savior; we are the saved
Ø Brother; we are His siblings
Ø Wonderful Counselor
Ø Prince of Peace
Ø Bridegroom; we, the Church, is His Bride
God is our:
Ø Father; we are His children
Ø Creator; we are part of Creation
Ø Provider and Protector; we are provided for and protected
Ø Eternal Portion
Ø Enough
Ø Source of Life
The Holy Spirit is our:
Ø Indwelling Power Source
Ø Teacher
Ø Convictor of sin
Ø Companion
Ø Helper
Ø Guide to truth
Ø Illuminator
Most of these connote very personal relationships. They are intimate and many are familial in nature. God is always very intentional in the words and concepts He chooses. What is God trying to highlight? What is He telling us?
It seems that He is pointing out how much He values intimate, authentic relationships. He wants relationships that are up-close and personal. God is more concerned with His relationship with us than almost anything else.
Ask yourself, “What kind of relationship do I want with God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit?” What you want is a key factor to what you will receive and experience with Him while you walk on earth. Often, we have not, because we ask not.
