Lydia Talley, MA (Counselor Intern)     Christian:   I have been a Christian for more than 8 years.  My journey has not been without trials and pain, but the Lord has used the valleys to teach me His ways; to deepen my faith; and to prepare me to minister to others.  My joy comes from the knowledge that Jesus is real, alive, and working in my life.  My desire is that God’s love for people will be poured out through me in order to bring healing and hope to those who are suffering.   Education:   I graduated from Nicholls State University with a Batchelor’s Degree in Secondary Education.  I taught high school and middle school for six years.  I earned a Master’s Degree in Counseling in 1994, from Louisiana State University .  I continue to broaden my knowledge and improve my skills by attending workshops and trainings in the areas of my interests.  Family: I have been married for 14 years to an incredible man, John Talley.  Together we have a wonderful son, Trey.  The Lord fills us, and our home, with His Presence.  I have also been blessed with three grown children who are either married or out on their own.  They have given us six beautiful, intelligent grandchildren.  God teaches me daily, through His love and mercy, how to be a better wife and mother.  Counselor:   I am a Counselor Intern and I have worked in the Ascension Parish School System for over 12 years.  I am working to become a Licensed Professional Counselor.  My areas of interest are: individual; marriage and family; counseling children and adolescents; as well as parenting training, and trauma recovery.  I love helping people in general in any way that I can.  I also have a passion to help young people understand their worth and realize their potential as individuals, and to help them see themselves as God sees them.  I have a deep desire to help parents learn effective parenting skills which will improve the parent/child relationship, and restore order to a chaotic home environment.  I am dedicated to guiding survivors of childhood trauma through the difficult journey of recovery.       Contact Information: lydia@murphytoerner.com Mobile:  225-287-6856
