As a middle-schooler, 7th grade actually, I had the privilege to attend an all girls camp in the hill county of central Texas.  My grandparents graciously paid for my sister and I to experience Camp Mystic for half the summer ( a 6 week term).

This camp was amazing!  The activities included:

  • Golf
  • Swimming
  • Music
  • Archery
  • Marksmanship – .22 rifles
  • Arts / Crafts
  • Hiking
  • Canoeing
  • And much more

I really loved canoeing in the Guadalupe River.  God used it to teach me a memorable spiritual lesson.  When the river had a strong current, I had to”press into it” by paddling hard and continuously.  If I stopped paddling or slowed down, the canoe started drifting in the opposite direction.

A few years ago, God pointed out to me that when I’m walking closely with Him, it’s because I was “pressing into Him” by spending time with Him (reading His word) and talking to Him (praying) throughout the day.

When I get too busy or just complacent, in time I realized that I have “drifted away” from God.  It is obvious when I’m not close to the Father (just ask those that are closest to me!!!!)

Right now, are you pressing into God or are you drifting away?  Ask the Lord to show you where you actually are in your relationship with Him.  I am purposing today to press in a little more than I did yesterday.  Will you join me? I hope you will.  Bless you!!!!
