Prayer is simply talking to God.  There are different kinds of prayers and contents of prayers.  The acrostic A C T S describes some of the those prayers.  They stand for:  Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, and Supplication (requesting).

As Christians we need to fight the idea that God will always answer in the affirmative to their prayers of supplication.  That is not the case.  Satan wants us to become disgruntled and discouraged with God when God does not give us what we think He SHOULD give us.

In my mind, there are several ways God will answer my prayers.

1. Yes

2. No

3. Wait

4. God says, “No or wait,” because He has something better for you.

5. God says, “No or wait,” as a means to protect you.

6. Lastly, sometime God is silent.  In other words, the one praying does not get a clear sense of direction or a clear yes or no answer from Him.  If you’ve never experienced this “silence” from God, it can be quite scary, but His silence only last for a season, i.e., a short period of time.  In that case, we are to simply “wait upon the Lord.”

I hope this is helpful to your prayer life.

Warmly,  Murphy
